As we approach the week designated to give thanks and share with our loved ones, the word “relationship” captures my mind. The definition of relationship: the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected. I have to read it over and over to realize that family and biological connections and bloodlines are not referenced. Sometimes, we give more respect and loyalty to biological connections than relationships. Just because you are related, does not mean you have a relationship. The key phrase in the meaning of relationship is “the way;” giving extension to connection by family, God, or other means of how you relate one to another.

Relationships should be fruitful, not frivolous. Just because there are no biological connections, does not mean they deserve less meaning in your life. Oftentimes, we easily walk away from divine, destiny appointed relationships. We tolerate the abuse, excuses and mistreatment of blood relatives and cut off the relationship of others – no problem. We all need someone, as it is the divine will of God to love and embrace one another. Hermitage is hazardous; it is a trap from the enemy to create division and breed delusion. The solo mind engages ill-intent, paranoia and toxic thoughts that poison the purpose of relationships. Let’s be thankful for relationships, whether family or friends.
